3 iPhone Apple mobile internet connectivity possible
3 iPhone Apple mobile internet connectivity possibleAs the major mobile phone operators wrangle over who will land the lucrative deal to market the Apple iPhone in Europe, 3 UK has announced that it is launching Google Search and Google Maps on its phones.
The agreement will see Google's search functionality integrated into the Planet 3 Internet offering, while Google Maps will be available via a download at the 3 portal.
This will mean that users can use Google as well as Yahoo on Planet 3, giving what the company describes as "an unprecedented choice of integrated brand-name search providers".
Of course, this means that if 3 manages to nudge Vodafone and Orange out of the way and win the rights for the Apple iPhone in the UK, it will have all the right technology in place.
With its sweet-as interface, the iPhone promises to bring the mobile internet to a whole new generation of cell phone users and could have a significant impact on online advertising.
A presentation by Steve Jobs, Apple's head honcho, on the iPhone can be viewed here.
Vodafone chief executive hopes the iPhone will feature 3G capabilities, although in the US it does not.
