Adobe boost for online advertising via Flash
New technology from Adobe is set to make it easier for search engines to index Flash pages.
The development, called Ichabod, is a headless Flash Player and has been released to Google, InfoWorld reports.
Google is using it in its indexing engines. When the search engine finds a button in an application, Ichabod will generate an event so that the content can be indexed.
Speaking at the AJAXWorld RIA Conference and Expo in California, Adobe chief technology officer Kevin Lynch said the firm is also dealing with Yahoo! on the technology, which could be further welcome news to those in online adverting.
"As people are starting to build AJAX apps, the content is getting more opaque. It's getting harder to find with the search engine. You need to be able to still get to that information as a user," he commented.
Earlier this week, Google's chief economist Hal Varian offered an explanation of how the search engine uses quality scoring in ad auctions on his blog.
