Bellwether Report demonstrates internet advertising increase
The latest Bellwether Report indicates that internet advertising is very much in the ascendant, accounting for just under six per cent of total Marketing spend in the first quarter.
This represented the largest gain since the first quarter of 2000 and further growth is predicted for this year, "buoyed by improved corporate profits".
"The overall trends are certainly encouraging, however it is interesting to see how the component parts are performing," said Robert Lerwill of Aegis.
"The growth in digital is being driven by the convergence of media and entertainment. This process is pushing the boundaries of Digital Marketing, making it more attractive to a broader range of demographics and therefore advertisers."
He continued: "The increase in main media advertising spend is also interesting and is indicative of the importance of these media within the communications mix."
As broadband take-up steadily increases in the UK, people spend an increasing amount of time online and internet marketers have never had it so good.
Techniques such as using Direct Link Ads allow web owners to put their websites to work and generate income.
