Consumers flock to auction sites with unwanted festive gifts

Consumers flock to auction sites with unwanted festive gifts Consumers are not only taking to the internet to do their Christmas shopping, they are also flocking to auction websites in order to offload unwanted gifts.

A report in The Times indicates that, on the fifth day of Christmas, festive cheer was nowhere to be seen as disappointed people took naff jumpers and other unwanted presents to sites like eBay.

One woman was trying to sell a plaque with the inscription 'Desperately seeking chocolate, please give generously'. She wrote beneath: "What can I say about this?! Perhaps the person who gave me it should have just bought me the b****y chocolate!"

Another seller was auctioning a job lot of 16 items, saying: "Unwanted Christmas presents in need of a new home."

Meanwhile, research from Nielsen Online indicates that 82 per cent of internet shoppers were either very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with the customer service levels they received while shopping for festive gifts on the web.
