Details of ad deal between Google and Yahoo published

Details of ad deal between Google and Yahoo published Google and Yahoo! have revealed further details of their Internet Advertising agreement in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The agreement, formed earlier this year, will see Yahoo! display Google ads alongside its search results for certain keywords in the US and Canada only.

While the document omits any mention of financial terms, the filing offers the finer points of each party's contractual obligations and information on the deal to make Yahoo! Messenger and Google Talk work with each other.

However, a number of sections in the filing have been removed to respect the need for confidentiality.

"The contract is heavily redacted in an area that covers 'other business opportunities' and is silent about how the sharing of user data between the partners could affect the privacy of Yahoo! users," Reuters commented.

As part of the US antitrust inquiry into the deal, Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith said earlier this year that the agreement potentially endangers both the Online Advertising market's competitiveness and user privacy.
