Editor says SEO basics should not be overlooked It is paramount that the basics of search engine optimisation (SEO) are not overlooked, the editor of Search Engine Journal has asserted.

Though other factors, such as linking, are an important way for firms to boost their website's search results through Google, Loren Baker suggested there are a number of basic things that are sure to improve a site's search engine ranking.

He stated that relevant keywords and headers are among the most important SEO tools to utilise, while it is important to ensure that broken links and pages are removed promptly.

In addition, Mr Baker suggested that text hidden within images is an unwise idea, as some of this content could be "extremely useful for SEO".

Meanwhile, Blog Marketing Journal reported this weekend that a blog composed with SEO strategies in mind can enhance a site's ranking on search engines such as Google.

The publication suggested that keyworded blog posts that are updated frequently can also help to establish brand and product awareness.
