Google to launch ad service for web publishers
Search engine giant Google is said to be on the verge of announcing a new service which allows web publishers to manage their online advertising sales.
The new Ad Manager service will also see consumers subjected to adverts every time they pull up a web page.
It comes just days after the firm was given the green light by European officials to acquire online advertising company DoubleClick.
The service will be offered free of charge and will be aimed at owners of small and medium-sized businesses.
Erin Teare Martin, advertising manager for Infoplease.com, has been using a limited version of the service and says that it has so far proven a success.
Speaking to Bizreport, she said: "Using Google Ad Manager, the delivery rate of our ads has improved by ten to 15 per cent.
"Before Google Ad Manager, we were maintaining two servers to keep ads running and they required ongoing maintenance.
"Since Google Ad Manager is a hosted solution, we have freed up those resources."
