Google to use AdSense on Facebook apps?

Google to use AdSense on Facebook apps Google is considering methods to make its AdSense adverts appear on third-party applications created for Facebook, according to reports.

With the social network having experienced rapid user growth on the back of opening its doors to third party applications, the use of ads on these widgets could prove popular among internet advertisers.

And Google is hoping to be at the forefront of allowing these advertisements through AdSense, according to the web search giant's chief executive Eric Schmidt.

"We would like to have our ads in those applications," he admitted in an interview with Advertising Age.

While increasing the reach of its ad serving platform is obviously in Google's interests, it was suggested that ads on Facebook apps could be a success for internet advertisers as well.

Margaret Clerkin, managing director at media company MindShare Interaction, told the Marketing industry magazine: "Widgets could be a really good way for advertisers to have an appropriate, welcome space in the social-networking area."

Using Internet Advertising – whether on social networks or as display adverts on other websites – is one method of link building which can improve your website's performance on search engines such as Yahoo or Google.
