'Historic growth' for internet advertising revenue

Historic growth for internet advertising revenue Internet Advertising revenue has seen 'historic' growth levels over the first three quarters of 2007, new figures have revealed.

A report release by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) showed that revenue from internet advertising in the US hit $5.2 billion in the third quarter of 2007.

That represents a rise of 25.3 per cent over the quarter and continues this year's growth, after the second quarter of 2007 recorded $5.1 billion and the first $4.9 billion.

"The emergence of new platforms, including broadband video, rich internet applications, mobile, and social media promise to deliver new benefits for consumers, and create exciting new venues for marketers to realise value in digital media," said Peter Petrusky from PwC.

Compared to the same three months of 2006, the figures for the third quarter of this year are three per cent higher. Over the first nine months of 2007, internet advertising revenues have increase 26 per cent on the same period of 2006 - $15.2 billion, up from $12.1 billion.

Internet marketing is a terrific way to reach millions of customers online.
