Hostelbookers and Google Maps launching pioneering search tool
Hostelbookers.com has joined forces with Google Maps to create an online tool that will allow travellers to view hotels and hostels in conjunction with maps of the area.A pioneering service, it offers a combination of up-to-date accommodation information and booking facilities with a realistic view of the hotel or hostel's location and the surrounding area.
Simply by holding the cursor over the map, users can see the name of the hotel or hostel in that area, along with basic pricing and rating details.
"This is a sophisticated function that adds value and richness to our customers' booking experience," Hostelbookers.com general manager David Smith said of the innovative service. "We are delighted to be pioneering this service on our site and will be monitoring its impact very closely."
Should a visitor find that their selected site is fully booked for the desired dates they are able to use the tool to navigate conveniently across the map areas to locate similar establishments nearby.
The company's website already offers the mapping service for 100 of the world's most popular destination cities, with further locations to be added as and when the information becomes available.
Google recently announced plans to return images from Google Maps with its local searches in order to promote the service.
