Internet advertising to grow 30 percent around the world

Internet advertising to grow 30 percent around the world Internet Advertising around the world is set to grow by 30 per cent in 2008, according to a new study from GroupM.

Most of this growth will come from emerging markets in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, although there will also be significant growth in Western Europe.

In particular, China will be the main geographical contributor to growth. Futures director at GroupM Adam Smith said: "This eastward shift is a form of 'advertising arbitrage' in which traditional media dollars are moving to the place where they can do the most good."

Also revealed in the report was the fact that internet ad spending will probably exceed ten per cent of global advertising investment in 2008, for the first time ever.

Search will make up between 65 per cent 70 per cent of measured online advertising, up from 50 per cent in 2005.

Companies wishing to boost their presence on search engines such as Google and Yahoo should use search engine optimisation.
