Microsoft: Second digital decade will be good for internet advertising
Microsoft chairman Bill Gates predicts that technology will be in every room in the home within a few years.Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Gates spoke of the "second digital decade" that will see screens built into tables and wall projections, as well as smarter user interfaces for computers.
All this will make Internet Marketing even more attractive in the future, with Microsoft's vision tying in with eMarketer's prediction that online advertising will continue to grow even if the US enters a recession.
Gates was joined on stage by Microsoft entertainment head Robbie Bach, with who he played a game of Guitar Hero - and Guns 'n' Roses axeman Slash also made an appearance.
Speaking of the future of technology, he said: "The second digital decade will be more focused on connecting people." IT will become more user-centric, he said, and media and entertainment will be software driven.
This was Gates' final CES appearance - he is to assume a more limited role in Microsoft later this year.
