Microsoft attacks Google Apps as Yahoo extends internet advertising reach
Amid the latest developments in the online advertising sector, Microsoft has hit out at Google regarding its tie-up with IT consultancy Capgemini to deliver Google Apps to businesses. It emerged this week that Google would join forces with Capgemini so as to get its Google Apps Premier Edition - which includes email, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software - into more offices.
However, Microsoft has hit out, saying in a statement seen by CNET News: "We believe competition is good for customers and the industry. That said, customers tell us that our solutions deliver the ease of use, reliability and security that enterprises need.
"Google's apps only work if an enterprise has no power users, employees are always online, enterprises haven't built custom Office apps - doesn't this equal a very small percentage of global information workers today?"
The software giant also attacked Google's "perpetual beta" ethos, and said that its schedule of updating software was unreliable.
Microsoft's comments come at a time when the major IT players are vying for supremacy in the Internet Advertising world. Microsoft wants its customers to use its Live Search so as to generate more advertising income; Google obviously wants people to use its own search engine.
Meanwhile, Yahoo is extending its own online advertising reach by offering display advertising on the pages of popular social networking site Bebo.
Make sure you don't miss out on online revenue by using link building.
