Microsoft launches new Live Search front page
Microsoft is in the process of revamping its search engine, Live Search, and has launched a new front page.
Similar in format to Google, the updated front page has a blue and green colour scheme and a much simpler design than its previous incarnation. It appears that Microsoft has recognised what Google realised long ago - that simplicity is easier on the eye.
Above the search box are tabs with which internet surfers can look for images, news, and maps, or conduct a whole web search.
At the moment the search results pages are the same as before but that is set to change next week.
The move is the latest tweak by a major search engine as the competition for Internet Advertising revenue shows no sign of letting up.
Ask recently revamped its own search functionality, and all the major search engines - Microsoft, Google, Ask and Yahoo - have rolled out mobile-friendly versions.
Microsoft is lagging behind Google and Yahoo, with Live Search taking just 3.9 per cent of the UK search market, according to comScore.
