Microsoft offers snapshot of future online marketing
Microsoft offers snapshot of future online marketingMicrosoft promised to offer "a glimpse at the future of online advertising" at the Demo Fest this week, which took place at the software giant's Redmond, Washington campus.
Taking centre stage was Microsoft adCenter Labs' innovative digital advertising tools, which showcased seven new focus areas: keyword and content technologies, ad selection and relevance, audience intelligence, social networking, video, platforms, and devices.
The technologies are designed to help provide "the best advertising experiences for users, advertisers and developers".
They include a keyword services platform, which provides web service APIs related to keyword technologies; advanced keyword analysis that identifies customers as opposed to browsers known as 'commercial intent detection'; and content classification, which accurately analyses the web pages included in search results.
"The technologies showcased at Demo Fest will help create unprecedented opportunity for developers and search engine marketers," said Microsoft's Tarek Najm.
He added that the products were expected to take between three and five years to bring to market, but that "overwhelming community feedback" had allowed Microsoft to release it in one year.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has announced that it plans to make its new Windows Vista operating system available for downloading.
It will be available for PC users via the internet on January 30th. Until now, Microsoft has not considered electronic software distribution to be secure enough.
