More engagement urged in online marketing efforts
Online marketing strategies need to become increasingly engaging in order to keep up with the fast pace of the industry.
This is according to experts speaking at the Silverpop Digital Marketer Conference, who suggested online marketers need to work to stay ahead of the competition.
Bull Nussey, Silverpop CEO, said online marketing should move "beyond simply capturing attention".
He explained that this should involve developing programmes for increased engagement with prospective customers so that relationships are built and conversions are made again and again.
Travelocity founder, Terry Jones added that online marketing should offer consumers things they cannot get in the physical world.
Mr Jones urged those working in the internet advertising industry to embrace Web 2.0 opportunities in order to let customers know what others think and allow them to compare products and prices.
"In a world of diminished loyalty, customer relationships are key," he concluded.
The Silverpop conference concludes today in Atlanta in the USA.
