MySpace page views top Yahoo
MySpace has surpassed its internet rival Yahoo, at least in terms of the number of web pages that are viewed by users, according to recent US market research.During November, comScore data reported by UBS Investment Research found that Yahoo's page views were down nine per cent, while MySpace owner Fox Interactive took the top slot as far as US internet page views is concerned.
According to the figures, which UBS acknowledges could be contested, Fox Interactive received 39.5 billion page views in November, while long-time leading US website Yahoo received 38 billion page views.
UBS analyst Benjamin Schachter said: "Fox Interactive passed Yahoo for top property by page view for the first time."
However, Mr Schachter added that the data was not entirely reliable and that Yahoo's use of AJAX software, which cuts down on users having to reload pages, could adversely affect its page view scores.
Following Yahoo in for page view volumes in the US were MSN-Microsoft, Time Warner Network, Google, eBay, Facebook, Viacom, Craigslist and Comcast.
The news was not all bad for Yahoo, however, as the research found that in terms of unique visitors the search engine was still far and away the market leader.
In November Yahoo received 129.9 million US visitors, while Fox Interactive was only in sixth place with 73.8 million visitors.
