MySpace to help with online minor protection

MySpace to help with online minor protection Social networking site MySpace has agreed to work with law enforcement representatives on a new plan that looks to ensure the safety of young internet users.

The website will work together with a group of US attorneys on a set of principles to protect minors from harassment, pornography, cyberbullying and other issues.

Steps will also be taken to educate parents better about the potential threats on the internet, and to develop identity and age verification technology for social networking sites.

Such portals have become incredibly popular over the past couple of years, with millions flocking to MySpace, Facebook and others each day. This provides a massive opportunity for Internet Marketing.

At a press conference, MySpace chief security officer Hemanshu Nigam said: "Today's announcement is a landmark step forward in providing new protections for teenage members of social-networking sites such as MySpace."
