Blender viral clips show online marketing power
The immense power of online marketing has been illustrated by US firm Blendtec, which has managed to increase sales of its kitchen blenders for far less outlay than traditional marketing methods, e-consultancy reports. The "Will it blend?" videos, which are a YouTube favourite, demonstrate how powerful the company's blenders are by showing them reduce expensive electronic items to little more than metal dust.
Company chief executive Tom Dickson mashes up all kinds of items, including an iPhone - that clip has had more than two million views on YouTube.
Traffic to the company's website has grown by 650 per cent since the videos first made their appearance, and the firm's online sales have increased by five times.
This example clearly shows the returns that can be made using internet marketing techniques.
Research indicates that the viral marketing industry will be worth around £30 million in the UK by the end of 2007.

I have heard about similar events and thought this would be more of the same type of runaround usually seen.
