Car Industry Can Hit Top Gear with Video Advertising Online
Car industry experts in the US expect online advertising spend to increase next year after the advertising stalled in the automotive industry last year.
Borrell Associates who conducted research in America for their Running on Empty paper believe that advertising will have to increase in order to avoid continued stagnation, particularly in new car sales. Online marketing can jump start an industry which has suffered badly during the recession; the expectation is that there will be an industry jump of over four per cent next year to $19 billion.
Borrell Associates predict online advertising budgets will increase by 14 per cent in 2010 across major manufacturers, whilst new and used car dealers will increase their marketing spend by approximately nine per cent. In particular, video advertising online has been highlighted as an avenue where online advertising can help auto industries.
The results were backed by a recent study by the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA) which found that video advertising online is becoming more popular among European marketers.
In their survey the EIAA found that 35 per cent of marketers were increasing their use of video advertising online, although search marketing will see the most growth next year with 64 per cent of the industry increasing their use of search to promote their brands.
Mobile advertising is also set to improve next year in Europe, a trend which will almost certainly be replicated in the US. More advertisers which have invested in online advertising are now ploughing money into mobile marketing as the next wave core media of advertising prepares for exponential growth.
