Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer confirmed this week that the software giant's $41.8 billion (£21 billion) offer for Yahoo! would not be raised.At a meeting, Mr Ballmer told employees: "I know exactly what I think Yahoo! is worth and I won't go a dime above," according to AFP.
His comments followed speculation that Microsoft would hike its bid for the pioneering search company to a maximum of $33 per share - although Yahoo! is reportedly holding out for a $35 to $37 per share bid.
Mr Ballmer said that Microsoft should reveal whether it would pursue a friendly acquisition, hostile takeover or no deal at all "in very short order".
Meanwhile, DoubleClick - the Internet Advertising company purchased by Google earlier this year - has announced its integration with mobile ad networks, including the search behemoth's AdSense for mobile content, AdMob and Millennial Media's MBrand network.
Google also made headlines this week when it enlisted artists - including Rolf Harris and Coldplay - to design skins for its customisable iGoogle homepage.
