This week's Internet News featured the venerable BBC, whose hugely popular iPlayer service is putting the internet under strain.

In fact, viewing shows such as The Apprentice on iPlayer is so popular that internet service providers are worried that the net will overload and want the Beeb to chip in to upgrade the network.



Predictably, the Yahoo/Microsoft takeover saga also evolved this week, with Yahoo! saying it would team up with Google for search advertising in a move that could thwart Microsoft.

Bill Gates' firm believes the AdSense tie-up between Yahoo! and Google is uncompetitive.

Meanwhile, a study by Radar Research found that marketers are continuing to spend large sums on search Marketing.

Massive levels of investment in this kind of online advertising are being driven by advertiser demand, keyword and pay per click campaign costs, and usage by small businesses.
