Yahoo! has announced that it is now allowing web users to opt out of seeing customised internet ads on Yahoo.com.This builds on an existing option that allows users to choose not to see similar ads on third-party networks.
Yahoo! and Google have also made public the contract behind their proposed Internet Advertising agreement, although several important sections, such as those relating to financial terms, had been removed from the filing.
Two new reports from Hitwise and Nielsen Online have highlighted the growing popularity of following the Olympics online, while a Covario study has suggested that spending on paid search activities is slowing around the world.
Hitwise also reported that Google has broken through the 70 per cent barrier in terms of the search market share in the US.
Meanwhile, social networking is still gaining in popularity worldwide, according to comScore, particularly in areas such as the Middle East and Africa, Europe and Latin America.
