Microsoft is to open a new Search Technology Centre in Europe to accelerate its investment in Live Search, the company announced last week. The announcement came after the software giant raised concerns about the search advertising tie-up between Yahoo! and Google, noting that it could reduce competition in the market, Reuters reported.Meanwhile, Dow Jones pointed out that Google's instant messaging (IM) product, Google Talk, could benefit from the tie-up with Yahoo!, whose IM service leads the market, according to CNN.
Elsewhere, Yahoo! announced two new mobile advertising partnerships, with Maxis Communications Berhad and Idea Cellular.
In other news, MySpace is launching the first phase of its website redesign, which is hoped to draw a wider range of users onto the social networking website.
Also, Enders Analysis expects expenditure on Internet Advertising to exceed TV investment by next year, Reuters reported.
