News summary (19/03/08)
Online videos have been dominating Internet News this week, with Flickr apparently on the verge of launching a video service. A beta version could be available as soon as next month, but the company maintains that it will not replace Yahoo! Video, which currently has a respectable share of online videos.Meanwhile, Chinese video site Youku.com has made a deal with MySpace China, as it looks to dominate the video webspace in the world's most populous nation.
Clearly things are hotting up in the online video arena - unsurprising given the potential returns to be made by companies engaging in vide-based Internet Advertising.
A new study from Aegis Media indicates that Digital Marketing as a whole will grow strongly this year, boosted by events such as the Beijing Olympics, and Yahoo! believes that its own online advertising revenues will grow strongly in the next three years.
Some believe that its upbeat outlook is aimed at encouraging Microsoft to offer more money to purchase the company.
Should such a deal go ahead, the combined Microsoft/Yahoo! company would be well-placed to take on Google - the undisputed leader in the internet advertising space.
