Online display advertising in China to grow rapidly Online display advertising in China is predicted to hit 2.6 billion yuan (£170 million) in the third quarter of 2007, according to figures from Nielsen Online.

Internet Advertising in the world's most populous nation is growing rapidly, and if it hits Nielsen's prediction it will be an increase of 14 per cent over the previous quarter.

For the year to date, total online advertising value has amounted to 6.6 billion yuan (£424 million), indicating the rapid spread of this form of Marketing around the world.

"The online advertising market in China is booming and catching up fast with advertising in traditional media," said Nielsen Online's analytic and research director Sail Ma.

"Judging by its current growth rate, we anticipate that the year will finish not only achieving double-digit growth in online advertising, but also reaching the ten billion yuan mark in value terms."

The top online advertising spenders in China over the past nine months included Faw-Mazda, Eachnet, Lenova, Samsung, China Mobile and Nissan.

Factors likely to boost online advertising in China in the future include the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics and growing consumption ahead of the new year holiday.

Meanwhile, in the UK internet advertising is continuing to grow as more and more people spend time online.
