Online marketing reach far better than TV expert claims
Online advertising can be more effective than TV Marketing because it is not only cheaper but it has the scope to reach many more people, it has been claimed. According to the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), problems which the fragmented nature of the net caused in the past have now been overcome - allowing Online Marketing to progress at a rapid pace.
The agency estimates that by 2010, internet advertising will have overtaken TV but that if this happens a year earlier "that would be fantastic".
Jack Wallington, programs manager with the IAB, said that online ad networks were helping to make "the reach and targeting far better than that of TV".
He added however, that the advent of online television means "it won't be long until television advertising is using the same online systems as other forms of online advertising".
Figures released last month show that in Sweden, online advertising is expected to overtake the television earlier than the rest of Europe - with experts predicting it will happen this year.
