Small firms should seek help to promote website
Businesses need help in order to promote their websites and ensure that they are making the best use of search engine optimisation, it has been claimed. According to one search Marketing firm, companies, and particularly small ones, should seek advice from experts when trying to advertise themselves over the web.
Patti Fousek, owner of Maine-based CreativeMind Search Marketing, said: "Many small business owners know they need a website, but don't really know how to promote it."
He added: "The days of 'if you build it, they will come' are long over."
Meanwhile, blogging has been named as one of the best ways for small businesses to drive traffic to their websites.
Speaking to CNNMoney.com, Nate Kresse, creative director of Milwaukee-based IT and new media consulting firm Stamm Business Technologies, said: "A blog will show the world that you are an expert in your field.
"Comments left on your blog posts give you an opportunity to respond directly to potential customers and search engines will reward fresh content with higher rankings, drawing in more visitors."
