Survey reveals 'global reach' of online marketing
Online marketing can help businesses massively expand their customer base and total exposure, according to a new study from comScore Networks. The consultancy found that the majority (56 per cent) of the top 25 US websites actually attracted more attention from abroad than from domestic consumers
This research suggests that internet marketing and online advertising offer a huge potential for UK companies looking to increase global awareness of their products and successfully expand sales beyond domestic borders.
"As internet usage outside the US has grown rapidly from a small base, the US share of the world's online population has fallen from 65 per cent to less than 25 per cent in the last ten years," said the managing director of comScore Europe, Bob Ivins.
"The fact that more than three quarters of the traffic to Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft is now coming from outside of the US is indicative of what a truly global medium the internet has become," he added.
Internet marketing, the report suggestions, thus offers a powerful and efficient way to allocate advertising resources at the same time as increasing a company's profile.
