US market shows online advertising growth

Online sales in the US increased markedly during the fourth quarter of last year, official statistics show.

According to figures from the US Department of Commerce, e-commerce sales were up by 6.3 per cent to $29.3 billion in over the three months, compared to the previous quarter.

When put in a longer term perspective, the increase is even more noticeable - up 24.6 per cent from the fourth quarter in 2005. The news is clearly good for internet advertisers.

The news comes soon after a study from Outsell indicated that online advertising is set to grow to a fifth of the total advertising market in the US this year.

"Advertisers rate online advertising very effective for branding, contrary to common wisdom that online shines at leads but is weak for branding," an Outsell spokesman said.

The boom in online sales has led to companies of all sizes profiting hugely and this trend can only grow as the market expands in the future.

Marketers can benefit from profits of at least 60 per cent revenue share with Direct Link Ads.
