Yahoo extends portal deal with Verizon
Yahoo! and Verizon have announced the extension of their co-branded online portal agreement.
The deal will see Yahoo! continue to provide default portal services, such as news, email, search, instant messaging and toolbars, to all new subscribers to the FiOS Internet and High Speed Internet services offered by Verizon.
First formed in 2005, the agreement will now continue to run for a number of years, the two companies said.
Other services included in the portal deal include to-do lists, updates on sporting events, weather information, financial portfolios, television listings and multimedia via Flickr.
Jim Schinella, senior vice-president of corporate partnerships at Yahoo!, said: "Our new multiyear agreement offers greater choices for consumers while enabling both companies to unlock greater monetisation opportunities."
Yahoo! recently announced the development of a new platform in conjunction with Intel that can allow users to utilise web applications on their televisions.
