Yahoo opens access to Panama as battle with Google intensifies

Yahoo opens access to Panama as battle with Google intensifies Leading search engine Yahoo has opened access to Yahoo's new 'Panama' advertising platform technology to businesses and other developers.

The free access will allow advertisers to build upon Yahoo's core search Marketing technologies in order to improve their current business offerings, or to develop new search marketing tools.

As well as this, users will gain access to a range of value-added services designed to give commercial partners a better insight into Yahoo's search marketing products and allow them to maximise the potential for clients.

The program breaks down into three different levels. 'Basic' is designed for small advertising agencies, providing free access to Panama and technical support; 'Advanced' is for mid-sized firms and offers "dedicated technical account management support"; and 'Elite' is designed for large technology and advertising companies.

"Yahoo is dedicated to driving third-party innovation and success because we know it is vital to the future growth of the Online Advertising industry," said Yahoo's Susan Decker.

"By providing open access to our technology, we are making a clear investment in our advertising partners, creating new opportunities for developers, and taking a key step toward achieving our vision to build the industry's leading advertising and publishing ecosystem."

Meanwhile, rival search engine Google has teamed up with Salesforce.com in order to drive more people to its AdWords program.

Web owners can boost their traffic using direct link building.
