Yahoo revamps search engine
Internet company Yahoo is revamping its search engine as it looks to compete more effectively with market leader Google.
Changes will include suggesting ways to phrase certain search requests, as well as providing more links to photos, music and videos on the main results page.
Data from Yahoo's calendar service Upcoming.org will also be displayed when local events are relevant to the request, promising a more personalised search service.
The move is the latest in many changes made by Yahoo, Microsoft and Ask as they attempt to gain a larger share of the search market. However, Google continues to dominate and has even grown its own market share of late.
Nevertheless, some believe that Yahoo's revamp could be a good thing.
Scott Kessler, an analyst at Standard & Poor's, told the Associated Press: "Is this (upgrade) going to be very important in terms of market share? I'm not so sure. But it probably will help them in terms of mind share.
"One of the reasons that Google has captured the imaginations of so many people is they have been doing so many different and interesting things."
Use link building to improve your website's rankings in the major search engines.
