Yahoo tests Panama online advertising system ahead of UK launch

Yahoo tests Panama online advertising system ahead of UK launch Yahoo is getting ready for the full launch of its Panama search Marketing system in the UK by running a limited test of the service.

Earlier this year the IT giant announced that its Panama system would allow internet advertisers to operate more effectively, shifting the emphasis away from keyword bidding.

In an email sent to UK internet marketers and published on PPC Blog, Yahoo said: "To help ensure we launch our new ranking model successfully we have started running a limited test across our UK advertiser listings in which the display order of Sponsored Search listings in some keyword markets is based on factors other than bid."

It added that the test would take into account a specific ad's click-through rate and other relevancy factors.

"The total amount of Sponsored Search traffic that we are providing to you should not change, but due to optimisation of certain keywords you may see traffic volume increase or decrease depending upon the relevancy of your offers and other optimisation factors," Yahoo continued.

The new Panama system will be rolled out in the UK "soon".

Web owners can improve their online effectiveness with direct link advertising.
