iPhone is fastest-rising Google search term

iPhone is fastest-rising Google search term The iPhone was the fastest-rising search term in the Google search engine in the US in 2007, Reuters reports.

Technology searches, including the names of social networking sites, also rated highly, Google said.

"iPhone, of course, is a word very few people typed in a search box in 2006," said the company's Marissa Mayer. "It didn't exist."

The iPhone is the smart new mobile phone from Apple, which incorporates a video iPod and internet connectivity, encouraging more people to search for products online and be exposed to Internet Advertising.

In the UK, it is being distributed by mobile operator O2.

Also popular in terms of searching were Webkinz, which is a social networking site that features a stuffed animal that customers can play with over the web. This term was in second spot.

Celebrity news website TMZ was third, and Transformers was fourth, receiving a massive boost from the motion picture of the same name.

The top ten was completed by YouTube, Club Penguin, MySpace, Heroes, Facebook, and Anna Nicole Smith.

"There's a lot of interest in the celebrity culture, television and movies," Mayer added.

Search marketing is a tried and tested way of getting higher website rankings in Google.
