iPhone is 'fastest-selling device'
The Apple iPhone is the fastest-selling device that mobile operator O2 has ever seen.O2 chief executive Peter Erskine denied reports that the swish mobile device had sold more slowly than expected since its launch on Friday, telling the Times: "It has been the fastest-selling device we have ever seen."
It has apparently sold tens of thousands of units already, and Mr Erskine noted that two thirds of customers buying the iPhone were new to O2, suggesting that the exclusive Apple deal will be a blow to rivals such as Orange and Vodafone.
Speculation about lower sales were suggested when O2 and retailer Carphone Warehouse refused to reveal sales figures.
When the iPhone went on sale last week, eager technology fans braved harsh weather when they queued up outside the Apple store in London's Regent Street.
The Apple iPhone will encourage people to use the mobile web and bring benefits for internet marketing.
